Pantry Games
While making a pasta sauce for dinner tonight, I thought it would be nice to have some olives in it and I remembered that I had a jar of Kalamata olives in the pantry. Um, yeah, you're seeing that right. Expiration date of 05/2003. And wouldn't some roasted red peppers be nice? Take a close look. XII/2001. A good year, wasn't it?
Um, well, yeah. I used the peppers, 'cause I added them to the sauce before I checked the date. I tasted an olive, but it was super salty, so I tossed those.
Mmmm ... vintage peppers and olives. Clearly, though, you didn't get sick! I've found long-expired goods in my cupboards too which means that we've actually moved expired food with us from condo to condo.
